Cool mornings ahead for Middle Georgia

Air Damming wedge continues to promote easterly flow. While the continued easterly breeze and marginally drier air (dewpoints in the upper 50s in parts of Eastern and Middle Georgia) will help cut the heat some, temperatures will still remain markedly above mid-September norms with highs in the 90s outside of the mountains. Wednesday night into Thursday morning is shaping up to bring comparatively more comfortable temperatures characterized by more widespread lows in the 60s. Little if any rainfall can be anticipated through Wednesday. The only exception would be a

couple of isolated showers possible mainly in southeastern and eastern counties moving westward through this evening, but this will be quite limited in nature. Temperatures are expected to remain unseasonably high across much of Georgia. Humid conditions are expected to bring heat index values back towards the triple digits as we approach the weekend. Overnight lows will also be on the rise with the return of the mid 70s to much of the area. This will not do much in providing relief from the daytime heat; especially for vulnerable folks. Keep an eye on pets, kids and the elderly. Plan to stay hydrated if you plan to spend time outside. Thunderstorm chances during the afternoon will be down to less than 20 percent for much of the area through the week. The ridge is finally expected to break down Sunday into Monday as a front approaches. Isolated thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday afternoon, becoming more widespread on Monday but total rainfall is expected to be less than an inch for much of the  coverage area through the forecast period.
