Bibb County man sentenced to 20 years for child molestation

He was sentenced to 20 years, with the first 10 years to be served in the Georgia Department of Corrections.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 74-year-old Bibb County man was sentenced to 20 years after pleading guilty to child molestation, according to the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.

Frankie Lee Williams pleaded guilty Monday, September 14, to one count of child molestation in Bibb County Superior Court. He was sentenced to 20 years, with the first 10 years to be served in the Georgia Department of Corrections.

According to the district attorney’s office, the victim, who is now an adult, reported the abuse to law enforcement in November 2022. She told investigators Williams, whom she knew as her step-grandfather, sexually abused her approximately 14 years earlier when she was 6 years old.

The district attorney’s office said the victim disclosed the abuse to her grandmother, who confronted Williams. Williams later admitted to the conduct during an interview with investigators.

Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney Anita Howard released the following statement:

“It takes real courage to come forward about abuse that happened years ago, especially by someone you once trusted as family. This survivor found that courage, and her family stood by her through the entire case. We’re grateful to all of them.”

The case was prosecuted by the Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office and led by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Taylor Wilson.
