Man wanted for murder hospitalized after Monroe County deputies end I-75 chase

The sheriff’s office says Deundre Bridges was driving a stolen vehicle when deputies tried to stop him near mile marker 181.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Tennessee man wanted for murder was injured early Tuesday after Monroe County deputies used a PIT maneuver to end a chase on Interstate 75, according to a news release from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the release, deputies tried to stop a vehicle traveling south on I-75 near mile marker 181 around 1:01 a.m.

The sheriff’s office says the driver refused to stop and led deputies on a brief pursuit. Deputies performed a PIT maneuver, and the vehicle left the roadway and crashed.

The sheriff’s office identified the driver as 38-year-old Deundre Bridges of Nashville, Tennessee.

Bridges was taken to a Macon hospital for treatment.

Deputies later learned the vehicle Bridges was driving had been reported stolen and that Nashville police wanted him for murder, according to the release.

The sheriff’s office did not provide information about Bridges’ condition or announce any local charges.

The chase and crash remain under investigation.
