Twiggs County community asked to help family after house fire
The sheriff’s office shared a list of clothing sizes and requested household items and financial donations for the family.
TWIGGS COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A Twiggs County family lost everything when its home burned Wednesday.
Chief Deputy Leonard Long confirmed the fire happened on Sgoda Road.
The Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office said in a social media post that everyone is safe, but the family was left with only the clothes they were wearing.
The Twiggs County Fire Department and sheriff’s office responded to the fire. The sheriff’s office said its chief deputy and his son, who serves with the fire department, helped battle the flames.
A donation flyer shared by the sheriff’s office lists the following clothing and shoe needs:
- Size 6/7 clothing and size 1 children’s shoes
- Size 6/7 clothing and size 13 children’s shoes
- Size 4T clothing and size 7 toddler shoes
- Size 14 husky boys’ clothing and size 9.5 men’s shoes
- Size 12-14 boys’ clothing and size 9.5 men’s shoes
- Size 14 regular boys’ clothing and size 10.5 men’s shoes
- Large shirts, size 34 pants and size 11 men’s shoes
- XXL shirts, size 36 pants and size 10.5 men’s shoes
Twiggs County Fire Chief Shaun Hart told 41NBC clothing, shoes, household supplies and other physical donations can be dropped off at the fire department’s office at 5524 Highway 96 West in Jeffersonville.
The flyer also directs financial donations to the Cash App account $Sclance.
At this time, authorities haven’t said what they believe led to the fire.
