FPD Vikings ready for war against Westfield

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Vikings secured their first win of the season last Friday night with a shutout victory of Deerfield-Windsor, and FPD will have its hands full this upcoming Friday when Westfield makes the trip Macon for our Game of the Week.

The Hornets are coming off of back-to-back wins over Brookstone and Strong Rock Christian. As for FPD, the Vikings dropped their season opener at home against Pacelli, but bounced back nicely with a 13-0 win on the road overt the Knights in Week 2. Now, FPD faces its toughest challenge of the season up to this point, and Head Coach Brent Collier feels the passing game is what his squad needs to improve on if they want to walk off the field victorious on Friday night. Senior defensive back Sam Bryant says he’s been playing against Westfield since he was in middle school, and a win over the Hornets could be a big step for this Vikings team moving forward.

“A win against Westfield would definitely boost us,” Bryant said. “Westfield’s always had a good team, and that would carry us close to region, and if we can go into region on a high note, we’ll get going. “We’re running the ball really good, and if we could just get the passing game going, we could be really good.”

The Vikings and Hornets have played each other 40 times in their history, with the series currently tied at 20-20.
