Award-Winning Documentary ‘Brannu: The Urban Horseman’ to screen at Macon Film Festival

Brannu: The Urban Horseman, directed by documentary filmmaker Adelin Gasana, tells the story of Brandon “Brannu” Fulton, a metro Atlanta horseman and landowner whose fight with local government has unfolded over more than a decade.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — An award-winning documentary exploring one man’s fight to protect his land, his livelihood and his legacy is coming to downtown Macon this weekend.

According to the film’s description, Fulton has faced arrests, government citations and other challenges involving his 27-acre property in South Fulton. His story also explores broader issues surrounding land ownership, gentrification, eminent domain, rapid urban development and the preservation of cultural identity.

Gasana says the documentary follows one man’s personal journey while raising larger questions about belonging, resilience, legacy and what happens as communities continue to change.

The feature-length film has earned recognition on the film festival circuit. It was also selected as a special presentation at the 2026 Atlanta Film Festival and has been featured at other Georgia film festivals.

Now, Middle Georgia audiences will have the chance to see the documentary during the 2026 Macon Film Festival.

Brannu: The Urban Horseman is scheduled to screen Sunday, Aug. 23, at 4:15 p.m. at Theatre Macon, 438 Cherry St. in downtown Macon. The Macon Film Festival runs Aug. 20 through Aug. 23 and is celebrating its 21st year with screenings and events across downtown Macon.
