Jones County Greyhounds gearing up for regular season

GRAY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Jones County football team missed the postseason in 2025, but that uncommon territory has lit a fire under an already motivated group as the Greyhounds look to make a deep playoff run in 2026.

“Our guys had tremendous growth this offseason, and we’re a new football team right now,” Head Coach Justin Montgomery said. “Last year’s touchdowns don’t win this year’s games. I think that’s been a big lesson through the offseason, and that’s been motivating the guys through their work ethic from January.”

“We know we should’ve made the playoffs last year, but this year, we’re on a road to the championship,” Junior linebacker Zaire Jones added.

The Greyhounds kick off the regular season on their home field against Valdosta on Aug. 21.
