Man charged, accused of attacking Uber driver

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — One man is arrested and another person is on the run after being accused of assaulting an Uber Driver last month.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened on the June 29, in the 700 block of Woodard Avenue.

They say 26-year-old Daysean Chapman repeatedly hit the driver in the head and face before robbing him of his wallet and phone. According to investigators, one of the suspects held a gun to the drivers head, and as the driver pushed the gun away, it went off. The bullet hit the driver’s side door.

Deputies say the victim was treated for his injuries at a local medical facility.

Chapman is charged with Aggravated Assault and Armed Robbery.

The Sheriff’s Office did not release any information about the second suspect, and say the case is still under investigation pending additional charges.
