Bibb County School District hosting Back to School Bash Friday
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Families are invited to the Bibb County School District’s ninth annual Back to School Bash on Friday at the Macon Mall.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will feature free school supplies, about 2,000 backpacks, school uniform shirts and community resources while supplies last.
This year, the district is moving away from its traditional drive-through format.
“In the past it’s been a drive-thru, but now we moved it to the Macon Mall to give us more time for fellowship and engagement with our parents,” Superintendent Dr. Dan Sims said.
The event includes community members working together to help families prepare for the new school year.
Sims said the Back to School Bash is about more than school supplies.
“The need is there,” he said. “People are going to see not just the district coming through for them, but the community coming through for them.”
He also encouraged parents to make school attendance a priority and to reach out if they need help.
“If there are barriers, please let us know early. We have resources,” Sims said. “We just need parents to know that we’re in their corner.”
The Back to School Bash will be held at Macon Mall, 3661 Eisenhower Parkway.
