Howard standout Poole chooses Florida State as next chapter

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – In a jam-packed gymnasium at Howard High School, senior Ta’Shawn Poole made his decision official on Friday evening as the standout safety chose to pursue his academic and athletic career at Florida State University.
“My mom didn’t know. My stepdad didn’t know. Only my coach, my sister, and my trainer knew, so it was good to have everybody wait and surprise the whole world about it,” Poole said.
“When you get these kids, you ask them what their long term goals are, and you’re able to help them reach them, it’s like, we got there,” Head Coach Trey Porter added. “To see him have this moment for himself and his family, it’s a dream come true for him and those guys.”
Poole still has one year left with the Huskies as they prepare for opening night against Southwest on Aug. 21.
