Downtown Macon French Fry Fight returns with 20-plus restaurants

The 5th annual Downtown Macon French Fry Fight runs July 8-10, with customers voting for their favorite fry creation.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Downtown Macon’s French Fry Fight returns Wednesday with more than 20 restaurants competing for the Super Spud Trophy.

The 5th annual Downtown Macon French Fry Fight runs July 8-10, with the final day falling on National French Fry Day.

According to NewTown Macon, participating restaurants will serve special fry creations during regular business hours. Customers can visit the restaurants, order the featured fries and vote for their favorite.

The restaurant with the most votes wins the Super Spud Trophy and the title of Downtown Macon’s Fry Champion.

This year’s contenders, according to NewTown Macon:

  • Bearfoot Tavern: The Bearfoot Blaze, $14. Hand-cut fries with melted cheddar, ground beef, jalapeños, red and green onions, garlic and smoky chipotle mayo.
  • Biddy’s: Smash Burger Fries, $14. Hand-cut fries topped with cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, two smashed and chopped patties and house-made burger sauce.
  • Braddock’s Cask & Table: Patty Melting in Your Mouth Fries, $14. Crispy fries topped with ground beef, caramelized Vidalia onions, Swiss cheese and special sauce.
  • Cashman’s Pub: Eagle’s Nest Berry Fries, $12.99. Golden funnel cake fries topped with fried chicken, bacon, strawberries, powdered sugar and strawberry syrup.
  • Famous Mike’s of Macon: Country Fried Steak Frites, $12. Straight-cut fries topped with a 4-ounce country fried steak, sausage gravy and pickled red onions.
  • Flying Biscuit: Hangover French Fries, $12. Crispy fries topped with two proteins, plus queso or shredded white cheddar and peppers.
  • Grant’s Lounge: Hot Chicken Loaded Fries. Crinkle-cut cheese fries loaded with chopped hot chicken tenders and house-made pickles.
  • H&H Soul Food: Southern Smothered Fries. Home fries topped with sautéed onions and bell peppers, cheddar cheese, house-made sausage gravy and a choice of egg.
  • Hotel Forty Five, Loom, Reckon and Hightales: Elote Loaded Fries with Birria Pork, $13. Crispy house fries topped with pulled birria pork, pickled red onion, charred sweet corn, mayo lime crema and cilantro. The restaurant is also offering a $10 Blueberry Lavender Lemon Drop drink special.
  • Jalapeños Cantina of Macon: El Pastor Jalapeño Fries, $12.
  • Just Tap’d: Southern Revival Fries, $14. Crispy fries topped with slow-smoked pulled pork, pimento cheese spread, bacon, diced red onions, hot honey BBQ drizzle and green onions.
  • Kudzu Seafood: Mojo Loco Fries, $13.95. Fries topped with mojo pork, tomato, peppers, onions, corn, black beans, cilantro, queso and cotija cheese.
  • Little India: Loaded Butter Chicken Fries. Crispy fries topped with house-made butter chicken, cheese and cilantro.
  • Longleaf Distilling Co.: Triple B, $12. Shoestring fries topped with bacon, blue cheese and buffalo sauce.
  • Macon Water Ice: Pineapple Mango Salmon Fries. Fresh-cut pineapple and mango served over seasoned fries with salmon, broccoli, grilled onions, peppers, American cheese and pineapple mango sauce.
  • Ocmulgee Brewpub: Pesto Fries.
  • Oliver’s Corner Bistro: The Southwest Stack. Fries topped with mojo pulled pork, pico de gallo, roasted corn, queso, pickled jalapeños and southwest dressing.
  • Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen: Supreme Pizza Fries. Waffle fries, ground beef, onions, bell peppers, house-made marinara, cheese curds and shredded mozzarella.
  • Satterfield’s BBQ: Smokehouse Loaded Fries. Crispy fries with house BBQ rub, slow-smoked pulled pork, house-made cheese sauce, honey bourbon hickory sweet sauce and pickled red onions. The item will be available Thursday and Friday only.
  • Sweet Eleanor’s: Chocolate Chip Cookie Fries. Chocolate chip cookie fries served with caramel sauce.
  • Switch Macon: 90’s Nostalgia Fries, $13. Seasoned fries topped with Cheez Whiz, house-made buffalo sauce, fried chicken fingers, ranch and crushed Hot Cheetos.
  • The Rookery: Rook Burger Fries. House-cut fries topped with ground beef, cheese sauce, lettuce, tomato, dill pickles and The Rookery’s signature burger sauce.

Macon Water Ice won the 2025 French Fry Fight with Buffalo Mac Fries. Cashman’s Pub won in 2024 with Asian Sesame Fries and in 2022 with Birria Fries. Pearl Passionate Cuisine & Cocktails won in 2023 with Crab Rangoon Fries.
