MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Tattnall football team finished 0-10 last season, but Head Coach Barney Hester and the boys are adamant about not dwelling on the past.

“We don’t talk about last year. We don’t talk about what happened last year,” Hester said. “We talk about what we’re going to do this year. We talk about our next step, what we’re going to do tomorrow – what we’re going to do today first – and then what we’re going to do tomorrow. Hopefully, we’ll be a little better than we were last year.”

That sentiment is shared by the players as well.

“It’s a new team, it’s a new year,” senior Andrew Pecorilli added. “There’s no point to look at the past. You know, everybody here is working a lot harder than last year. It’s just completely different all around. Nobody likes going 0-10, so everybody’s striving to do better.”

“It was a tough year, but I feel like our guys, we never gave up,” senior Tate Morris said.  “Every game, we had good energy, we were getting after it. Every practice, it was all there. We were all working hard, so I think we all learned from that. The younger kids got experience that they wouldn’t have gotten on the older team, so now those guys will be able to step up this year and make plays for us.”

The Trojans open up the regular season at home against Gatewood on Aug 14.
