Coroner: Two dead, child critical after crash on I-75 North in Macon

UPDATE: Georgia State Patrol says the fatal crash on I-75 North involved a Dodge Charger and a Ram 2500 pickup truck.

According to preliminary details from GSP, the crash happened around 5:09 p.m. Sunday near Rocky Creek Road.

GSP says the Dodge Charger sideswiped the Ram 2500 before leaving the road to the right and overturning.

According to GSP, the driver of the Dodge Charger and a juvenile passenger died at the scene.

Coroner Leon Jones says the two people killed were a 54-year-old woman and a 9-year-old girl.

GSP says a second juvenile passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken to Atrium Health Navicent for treatment.

Jones says the injured child is a 6-year-old boy who was being taken to Children’s Hospital of Atlanta.

The crash remains under investigation.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Two people are dead and a 6-year-old child is in critical condition after a crash on I-75 in Macon, according to Macon-Bibb Coroner Leon Jones.

Jones says the crash happened Sunday evening on I-75 North between Rocky Creek Road and Newberg Avenue.

The names of the people who died have not been released.

According to 511 Georgia, an incident closure was reported at I-75 and Rocky Creek Road, with all lanes closed. The closure started at 5:24 p.m. and was last updated at 6:34 p.m.

511 Georgia listed an anticipated end time of 7:24 p.m.
