PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- If you are planning to attend the Georgia National Fair this year, you may notice a change in ticket prices.

That is because adult admission at the gate will increase from 15 dollars to 20 dollars on non discounted days when paying cash.

Children ages 3 through 10 will now be charged 5 dollars at the gate.

“It was not an easy decision for us to make, this is something that we talked about for months,” said Erin Flournoy, marketing director for the Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter.

Flournoy says rising costs over the past several years led to the increase.

“Operation cost for the fair have increased by 40%, just like everywhere else we are feeling it too. Fairs and other events and even personally you know things are going up, and so we are also feeling that as well. So the cost increases for security, medical personnel, staff has been increasing tremendously,” Flournoy said.

Despite the increase, Flournoy says they are still focused on keeping the fair affordable and fun for everyone.

“We have nine free concerts that are new every year, high quality entertainment that you can see from 10 to 15 dollar admission you’re not going to get that anywhere else,” Flournoy said.
