Downtown Macon roads to close for Juneteenth Parade on Sunday

The parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at 310 Cherry St., in front of the Tubman African American Museum.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Drivers in downtown Macon should expect road closures Sunday afternoon as the city hosts the 2026 Juneteenth Parade.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the parade will begin at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at 310 Cherry St., in front of the Tubman African American Museum.

The parade route will travel along Cherry Street to Second Street, continue onto Second Street and proceed down Poplar Street toward Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, where the parade will end.

Several downtown streets will be closed to vehicle traffic for the event.

Cherry Street and Poplar Street will be closed from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. In addition, the following streets will be blocked to vehicle traffic for the duration of the parade:

  • Cherry Street from Fifth Street to First Street
  • Second Street from Plum Street to Mulberry Street
  • Poplar Street from First Street to Fifth Street
  • Fifth Street from Oglethorpe Street to Mulberry Street

The sheriff’s office said “No Parking” signs have been placed along the parade route. Vehicles will not be allowed to park on the route beginning at 7 a.m. Sunday and continuing until the parade has concluded.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and use alternate routes during the closures.
