Bleckley County man charged with aggravated child molestation
The Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office says Jimmy Kersey was arrested after deputies responded to a Catbird Road home

COCHRAN, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A 61-year-old man is being held without bond in Bleckley County after deputies say he was arrested in an investigation involving crimes against a child.
The Bleckley County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release Friday that deputies and criminal investigators responded June 5 to a home on Catbird Road in Cochran after receiving allegations involving a child.
The sheriff’s office says investigators immediately launched an investigation because of the serious nature of the allegations.
According to the sheriff’s office, Jimmy Kersey was arrested and charged with aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation, false imprisonment, kidnapping and two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
Kersey is being held without bond at the Bleckley County Law Enforcement Center.
“When allegations involve a child, we do not waste time,” Sheriff Daniel Cape said. “My deputies and investigators moved quickly to secure evidence, protect the victim, and remove the suspect from our community.”
Cape said the sheriff’s office intentionally withheld details while investigators continued working the case.
“My goal was simple…remove the threat first and talk about it later,” Cape said. “The safety of our children will always come before publicity.”
The sheriff’s office says the investigation remains active, and additional information may be released later.
