MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man wanted in Bibb County on aggravated assault and cruelty to children charges was arrested Tuesday after deputies say he led them on a chase through Macon.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as 41-year-old Dameon Jerrell Dunham.

According to deputies, around 11 a.m. Tuesday, a Flock camera alerted them to a gray Hyundai Sonata connected to a man wanted in Bibb County. Deputies tried to stop the vehicle on Pio Nono Avenue near Rocky Creek Road, but the driver refused to stop.

The sheriff’s office says Dunham drove at high speeds, crossed into lanes of oncoming traffic and ran multiple red lights during the chase.

Deputies say Dunham lost control at Riverside Drive and Lee Road, where the vehicle struck a utility pole’s ground wire. The sheriff’s office says Dunham ran from the vehicle but was eventually taken into custody.

Dunham was charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense and misdemeanor obstruction of law enforcement officers.

Deputies say Dunham was also wanted in Bibb County on charges of aggravated assault, criminal trespass, third-degree cruelty to children, probation violation and several traffic violations.
