MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A Georgia manufacturing company plans to expand in Macon with a new $125 million facility and 500 new jobs in Bibb County over the next several years.

Unified Legacy said the new manufacturing facility will be built on Barnes Ferry Road in Macon. Gov. Brian Kemp announced the project in a news release.

According to the announcement, construction on the facility is expected to begin in 2026.

Unified Legacy manufactures products and components for the defense, aerospace, data center, and industrial markets. The company said its work includes machining, welding, fabrication, generator enclosures, fuel storage tanks, welded assemblies, and precision-machined components.

Unified Defense, one of the company’s manufacturing operations, has operated in Byron since 2022.

Company says expansion increases capacity

Eric Williams, CEO of Unified Legacy, said the investment reflects confidence in Middle Georgia and its workforce.

“As demand continues to grow, this new facility expands our capabilities, increases capacity, and positions us to take on larger, more complex work,” Williams said in the release.

The company said the project includes jobs in manufacturing, skilled trades, engineering, logistics, quality control, and administrative support.

Local leaders react to expansion

Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller said the project aligns with local economic and workforce development goals.

“With the expansion of Unified Legacy, 500 more families will have the chance at careers and better lives,” Miller said in the release.

The Georgia Department of Economic Development said the project involved partnerships with the Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority and Georgia Power.
