Houston County detention employee jailed on sexual assault charge

Records show the employee is accused of sexual assault and violation of oath by a public officer.

PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Houston County detention center employee has been arrested and charged with sexual assault and violation of oath by a public officer, according to records obtained by 41NBC.

Jail records provided by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office identify the employee as 41-year-old Latasha Westberry Ross of Montezuma.

According to the records, Ross was arrested Wednesday by the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and is being held without bond.

The listed charges include:

• Sexual assault against a person in custody by a person with supervisory or disciplinary authority
• Violation of oath by a public office
