Woman charged after violent domestic incident in Monroe County

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A woman is facing multiple felony charges after deputies say a domestic disturbance escalated into violence involving threats, weapons and property damage, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a home on Edge Drive after receiving a report of a disturbance involving 48-year-old Jessica Ramsey.

According to the sheriff’s office, Ramsey was acting erratically, throwing items inside the home and making threats to kill family members. Investigators say she broke household items, including a glass jar, during the incident.

Authorities say Ramsey armed herself with knives from the kitchen and pointed them at family members. During the confrontation, her son told deputies Ramsey grabbed him by the throat, causing him to struggle to breathe.

Investigators say the son struck Ramsey multiple times in the face during the incident. Ramsey told deputies she was hit after throwing a glass at him.

Deputies also say Ramsey threw a vodka bottle at her son, but it did not strike him. Law enforcement recovered a knife and the bottle at the scene.

According to the sheriff’s office, Ramsey continued to act erratically while deputies were on scene and did not follow commands.

Ramsey was taken into custody and transported to jail. She is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of terroristic threats, possession of a knife during the commission of a felony, simple battery under the family violence statute, and criminal trespass, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
