Foot chase ends with arrest near downtown Macon

Deputies say the man ran when they arrived to a call about a fight near Broadway.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man was arrested Monday evening after deputies say he ran from law enforcement near downtown Macon.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the call came in around 6:22 p.m. to the Macon-Bibb E-911 Center in reference to a fight or disorderly conduct near Broadway.

Deputies say when they arrived, a man ran, which led to a brief foot chase.

The suspect, 46-year-old Martez Battle, was taken into custody in the 1900 block of Broadway and taken to the Bibb County Jail. He’s charged with simple battery and two counts of willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
