Warner Robins under Level 1 drought, city urges water conservation
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division declared the drought status after determining that most of the state is experiencing severe to extreme drought conditions.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Drought conditions across much of Georgia have led state officials to place several areas, including Warner Robins, under a Level 1 drought designation, triggering mandatory conservation efforts and public awareness measures, according to the City of Warner Robins.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Division declared the drought status after determining that most of the state is experiencing severe to extreme drought conditions. Under a Level 1 drought response, public water utilities are required to launch campaigns aimed at educating residents about the effects of drought, its impact on water supplies and the importance of conservation.
As part of the declaration, the City of Warner Robins must follow Level 1 drought response requirements, which include encouraging voluntary water conservation among residents and businesses.
City officials are urging the community to adopt simple, everyday habits to reduce water use. Recommendations include checking for and repairing leaks inside and outside the home, shortening showers and turning off the tap while brushing teeth or shaving.
Residents are also encouraged to run dishwashers and washing machines only when fully loaded and to avoid watering landscapes during the hottest parts of the day when evaporation rates are highest. It is also advised that resident’s adjust sprinklers to ensure water is directed only at lawns and not driveways, streets or homes.
City leaders emphasized that conserving water is critical during drought conditions and thanked residents for their cooperation in protecting water resources.
