Teen Battling Leukemia Completes Marathon Inside Hospital

(NBC) A 15-year-old from Massachusetts is inspiring people across the country after completing a marathon—entirely inside a hospital while battling cancer.

Wesley Araujo took on the challenge inside Boston Children’s Hospital, turning his daily walks into a remarkable test of strength and determination.

“My strength is greater than any struggle in front of me,” Wesley said.

Diagnosed with leukemia, the teen athlete refused to let his condition slow him down. With encouragement from his physical trainer, he learned that completing 552 laps around his hospital floor would equal the 26.2 miles of the Boston Marathon.

That’s when he decided to go for it.

“You could give me cancer, you could give me chemotherapy, but I’m still not going to stop,” Wesley said.

Over the course of six days, Wesley completed lap after lap—pushing through treatment and fatigue to reach his goal.

When he crossed the finish line, hospital staff and supporters lined the hallway, cheering him on in a celebration fit for a marathon champion.

His journey is now serving as a message of hope for others facing difficult battles.

“This is not the end,” Wesley said. “You have so much more to live for than you even imagine… if you put your mind to it, you could do whatever you want to do in life.”

Wesley’s story is a powerful reminder of resilience, courage and the will to keep going—even in the toughest circumstances.
