Georgia Sen. Blake Tillery campaigns for lieutenant governor on tax cuts and public safety

A major pillar of Tillery’s campaign is his call to eliminate Georgia’s state income tax.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Georgia State Sen. Blake Tillery is making his case to voters as he runs for lieutenant governor, highlighting a platform centered on tax cuts, public safety and conservative values.

He said his record includes cutting taxes, investing in infrastructure and maintaining what he describes as fiscal discipline.

A major pillar of Tillery’s campaign is his call to eliminate Georgia’s state income tax. He argues the move would increase economic competitiveness and allow residents to keep more of their earnings while maintaining funding for essential services.

On public safety and immigration, Tillery has supported stricter enforcement measures, including legislation aimed at holding local governments accountable for complying with federal immigration policies. He also emphasizes a tough-on-crime approach and increased support for law enforcement.

Tillery has also taken firm positions on cultural and social issues, including legislation related to gender-related procedures and education policies. He frames these efforts as protecting what he describes as constitutional rights and traditional values.

Before serving in the state Senate, Tillery began his political career at the local level as chairman of the Toombs County Commission. He said that experience shaped his focus on infrastructure improvements and lowering taxes.

As the race for lieutenant governor continues, Tillery is positioning himself as a consistent conservative voice, emphasizing both his legislative record and his vision for Georgia’s future.
