Severe weather threat causes delays in local services across Middle Georgia

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Middle Georgia is preparing for potentially severe weather on Monday, March 16, prompting local governments and transit agencies across Middle Georgia to take proactive steps to protect public safety, including delaying the opening of offices and services.

The Macon-Bibb County government announced a delayed start for all offices until 12 p.m. due to the forecasted storm system and uncertainty surrounding its arrival. Emergency response services will remain operational, with crews on standby overnight to respond to any weather-related incidents.  The Macon-Bibb County Transit Authority (MBCTA) will also delay the start of all regular bus services—including Fixed Route, Paratransit and Rapid Transit—until noon on Monday. All MBCTA personnel are instructed to report for work at noon.

Macon Water Authority also announced it’s delaying its opening until noon.

The City of Warner Robins will delay the opening of its business offices, recreational facilities, parks and the International City Golf Club until 12 p.m. Essential services, including public safety operations, will continue as normal.

The City of Milledgeville also announced a delay in the opening of non-essential services until 10:30 a.m.
