Forsyth man arrested in Macon for commercial burglary

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A man was arrested in connection with a commercial burglary on Saturday morning, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center received a call at 9:02 a.m. March 7 reporting a burglary at a fenced AT&T cellular tower site in the 4700 block of Hawaiian Village Drive. Witnesses told deputies that two men were seen cutting copper wire at the site.

When a deputy arrived, he heard hammering and voices inside the fenced area. One suspect, wearing a purple jacket, fled on foot toward a wooded area. The second suspect attempted to run but was apprehended after the deputy deployed a Taser. Authorities recovered multiple cut copper wires at the scene.

The arrested suspect was identified as 43-year-old James Michael Costlow of Forsyth. Costlow was also wanted by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Centerville Police Department. He was taken to a local medical facility for treatment of a minor injury before being transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Costlow was charged with felony first-degree burglary and misdemeanor willful obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He is being held without bond.
