21 Year Old Woman Shot After 50 Rounds Fired Into Tacoma Home, Police Searching For Masked Gunmen

(NBC)- A Tacoma family is counting their blessings after a barrage of gunfire shattered their home early Tuesday morning, injuring a 21-year-old woman as she slept.

Surveillance video shows three masked men dressed in dark clothing walking up to the home before opening fire. Moments later, at least 50 rounds were sprayed into the house around 4 a.m., according to investigators.

“I was just worried about my daughter’s life,” said homeowner Stephen Taylor.

Dispatch audio indicates the victim was shot multiple times in the chest, arm and foot but remained awake and talking when first responders arrived.

Taylor said his daughter was in a front bedroom when the gunfire erupted.

“They just kind of grazed her… by the grace of God really. Just a horrific experience,” he said.

Inside the home, bullet holes mark walls and furniture. One projectile was found lodged in a blanket — a chilling reminder of how close the family came to tragedy.

The family says they do not know why they were targeted — or if they were the intended victims at all.

Police in Tacoma say the suspects have not been identified. Detectives are awaiting ballistic results from a crime lab and hope someone who sees the surveillance footage will recognize the gunmen.
