UPDATE: GoFundMe campaigns started for victims of Forsyth apartment fire
A deadly apartment fire in Forsyth Wednesday afternoon left one person dead and two others hospitalized, according to the Forsyth Police Department.

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Fundraisers have been started for families impacted by a fire at a Forsyth apartment building on Wednesday that left one person dead and two others hospitalized.
Police and fire crews responded around 3:36 p.m. to 235 Union Hill Drive after receiving reports of an apartment fire with possible entrapment. When crews arrived, flames had already spread inside the building.
Investigators say the fire began on the first floor before moving upstairs and into the attic. Authorities confirmed one person died inside the room where the fire originated. Two others were transported to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Officials also say one person jumped from the second story of the building before firefighters arrived.
The fire was contained to the building where it started.
The Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the investigation to determine the cause. The Monroe County Fire Department also responded to help battle the flames.

The American Red Cross is assisting displaced residents by providing hotel accommodations and additional support services.
