FBI analyzes DNA from glove found near Nancy Guthrie’s home as search continues

(NBC)- Investigators are analyzing new evidence in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, as the FBI works to determine whether DNA recovered from a glove could help identify a suspect.
Law enforcement experts are weighing in after authorities confirmed they are testing DNA from a glove found near Guthrie’s home. Jason Pack, a retired FBI supervisory special agent and hostage negotiator, says the evidence could be significant.
“We’re hopeful that this is going to be a clue that’ll lead them to the suspect,” Pack said.
According to the FBI, the glove appears to match those worn by the individual seen in doorbell camera footage outside Guthrie’s home the morning she disappeared. Officials clarified that the glove currently being tested is not the same glove previously reported by the New York Post — a black glove found less than two miles from her home.
Pack says investigators will attempt to develop a profile and run it through CODIS, the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System. However, he cautioned that the discovery does not guarantee a breakthrough.
“This glove could be very promising, but we have to caveat that a little bit,” Pack added. “Yes, it has male DNA apparently on it. But we don’t know if it’s the same DNA that’s inside that house.”
Late last week, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department revealed that authorities found DNA at Nancy Guthrie’s property that did not belong to her or anyone in close contact with her.
The investigative developments come as Savannah Guthrie, the “Today” show anchor and Nancy Guthrie’s daughter, continues to publicly plead for information.
“It’s been two weeks since our mom was taken,” Savannah Guthrie said in an emotional Instagram post. “We still have hope.”
She also made a direct appeal to anyone who may have information.
“It is never too late to do the right thing,” she said.
Authorities have not announced any arrests in the case. The investigation remains ongoing.
