Fire on Central Avenue in Milledgeville ruled arson; $10,000 reward offered

MILLEDGEVILLE, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Investigators say a fire that damaged a home on Central Avenue early Friday was intentionally set, and Georgia Arson Control is now offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible.

According to Baldwin County Fire Rescue, crews were called to the single-story, wood-framed house around 6:25 a.m. Crews arrived to find the unoccupied home with fire through the roof. Firefighters made an aggressive attack and brought the flames under control. No injuries were reported.

The agency shared video of the person believed to be responsible for starting the fire.

Responding agencies included Baldwin County Fire Rescue units, Milledgeville Fire Department, Atrium EMS and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

Following the initial response, the Baldwin County chief fire investigator determined the fire was intentionally set.
