Mother dead, child injured in I-75 crash in Monroe County

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — A mother was killed and her son injured in a crash Monday in Monroe County, according to the Forsyth Police Department.
The crash happened at 6:58 p.m. February 9 on Interstate 75 northbound near mile marker 188.
Officers responded to a two-vehicle collision and found one person dead and an injured juvenile, according to a news release.
The victims were a 47-year-old mother and her 9-year-old son, both from Ohio. The boy was transported to an Atlanta-area hospital for treatment and remains hospitalized.
No additional injuries were reported, Forsyth police said.
The other vehicle involved was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.
