Icy weather remains possible this weekend

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – An incoming system could bring some freezing rain to Middle Georgia Saturday night/Sunday morning.
This Evening
Skies have been overcast throughout the day today and will stay that way the rest of the evening and overnight. A few showers also remain possible. Expect low temperatures tonight in the low to mid 40s accompanied by north-northeast wind at 5-10 mph.
Tomorrow
Another overcast day is expected Saturday however things will likely be pretty dry through most of the afternoon. Temperatures should reach relative highs in the afternoon somewhere in the upper 40s or lower 50s. Wind will flow from the east-northeast at 10-15 mph.
During the evening hours rain will likely begin and a shift to freezing rain will be possible later in the evening, primarily in the northern counties of the region. Freezing rain will remain possible into Sunday morning until conditions begin to warm during the late morning hours. Low temperatures around the region will range from the lower 30s into the mid 40s. Wind will continue from the northeast at 7-15 mph. Gusts may push as high as 25 mph.
Sunday and Beyond
Freezing rain may be ongoing for some as Sunday begins, however in the late morning hours temperatures will begin to climb. How much warming will occur Sunday still remains a big question as model guidance suggests that highs could range anywhere from the upper 30s into the upper 60s!! It is likely that come Sunday evening when the cold front begins to arrive all precipitation will be just rain. The aforementioned high temperatures will likely be after sunset.
Rain will continue Sunday night before stopping sometime after midnight. After this temperatures will work to drop below freezing rolling into Monday morning. This may lead to some re-freezing of excess moisture and black ice on roadways, so commutes on Monday morning could be dangerous. Temperatures will stay cold into much of next week with Middle Georgians likely to need to drip their faucets several nights.
