Coroner: Child dies in Houston County on Christmas Day

Houston County Coroner James Williams says the child was taken to the Emory Healthcare Warner Robins Emergency Room by her parents on Thursday around 7:00 p.m. after becoming ill.

WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A 5-year-old girl is dead after passing away on Christmas Day in Houston County.

According to information available at this time, Houston County Coroner James Williams says the child was taken to the Emory Healthcare Warner Robins Emergency Room by her parents on Thursday around 7:00 p.m. after becoming ill. The child then passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Her identity is not being released.

Williams says the death is currently under investigation by his office in conjunction with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office Juvenile Division.

An autopsy is being conducted at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Crime Lab to determine the cause and manner of death.
