UPDATE: Another candidate enters race for Georgia State Senate District 18
The special election will be held January 20, with early voting beginning December 29.

UPDATE (12/23) – In a news release sent to 41NBC, lifelong Thomaston resident Eugene Allison has officially announced his candidacy for the Georgia State Senate, District 18.
“I would be greatly honored to earn your support in the 2026 Republican Primary. I am committed to fighting for justice, safety, families, and the constitutional freedoms that protect us all,” said Allsion.
According to the news release, some issues Allison is running on is: Strengthening Criminal Justice and Victim Protection, School Safety Reform and CPS Reform (Child Protective Services).

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Qualifying has concluded for the State Senate District 18 seat, and the race is now officially set with a diverse group of candidates. Below is the full list of individuals vying for the position:
ERIC S. WILSON (R) – County MONROE -Former Mayor of Forsyth/business owner/paramedic
LAUREN CAREY DANIEL (R)-County MONROE- Homemaker
LEMARIO NICHOLAS BROWN (D)- County PEACH- Former Fort Valley Mayor Pro Tem/business owner
NATHAN WARNOCK (R)-County BIBB- Retired
STEVEN MCNEEL (R)- County BIBB- Attorney/Real estate/Agribusiness
Georgia State Senate District 18 includes Thomaston (Upson County), all of Crawford, Monroe, and Peach Counties, and portions of Bibb and Houston Counties.
The deadline for voter registration is Monday, December 22. Early voting begins December 29, and the special election will take place on January 20.
