MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A Christmas sock drive aimed at helping seniors in nursing homes across Middle Georgia kicked off Friday morning in Macon.

Making Ways for the Elderly, Inc. launched its annual Socks for the Seniors drive at 3770 Napier Avenue. The socks collected will be delivered to seniors living in nursing homes throughout the region during the Christmas holiday season.

Organizers say socks are especially important for residents who may not be able to wear shoes regularly and rely on socks to keep their feet warm during colder months.

Patricia Duncan, CEO of Making Ways for the Elderly, said the drive is something she has been involved in for several years and is rooted in her experience working in nursing homes and understanding the needs of residents.

Donations can be dropped off at Wonderland International Training School 3770 Napier Ave,  Macon, Ga or Alice’s Place Adult Day Care 3780 Napier Ave, Macon, GA. The drive is expected to run through Friday, with the possibility of being extended depending on donations. All donations are tax deductible. If you need to  get in contact with the business you can call 478-254-7271.
