Golden Corral in Macon temporarily closes after electrical fire
The fire started in the dining room ceiling, and the restaurant remains closed while damage is assessed.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Golden Corral on Presidential Parkway is temporarily closed after an electrical fire broke out inside the restaurant Wednesday night.
According to Capt. Kyle Murray with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the restaurant at about 8:10 p.m. Wednesday after reports of smoke inside the building. Firefighters arrived to find no flames visible from the outside, and restaurant staff had already evacuated all customers and employees.
According to Murray, crews entered the building and located an active fire burning in the ceiling area of the dining room. Firefighters pulled ceiling material to reach the fire and quickly extinguished it, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the restaurant.
A secondary search confirmed the building was fully evacuated, and crews ventilated the restaurant to remove smoke. No injuries were reported.
Fire investigators determined the fire was electrical in nature and started in the dining room ceiling.
The restaurant’s marquee on Thursday displayed a message reading “SMALL FIRE TEMPORARILY CLOSED.” Signs with the same message were posted on the front door, and the building remained shut down while staff assessed damage.
The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department commended the restaurant staff for their “prompt evacuation efforts,” which Murray said contributed to the safe outcome.
