Hill of Hope Foundation provides food relief as SNAP cuts hit families
As families across Georgia face rising food prices and reduced SNAP benefits, the newly launched Hill of Hope Foundation is stepping in to provide critical support.
ALBANY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Founded in honor of the late Dr. Maria Hill Fondal, the nonprofit focuses on health equity, educational advancement, and economic opportunity for underserved communities. The foundation’s early efforts are already making an impact.
Hill of Hope recently donated $1,000 to the Feed the Valley Thanksgiving Meal Program, helping provide approximately 100 meals to families in need this holiday season. Each $10 donation supports elderly, disabled, homeless individuals, or families struggling to make ends meet.
The foundation also awarded a $500 grant to A Better Way Grocers, led by Tiffany Terrell, to expand their SNAP Relief Initiative. The funding will provide 10 emergency relief boxes for cancer patients at Phoebe and 30 produce bags distributed to families through the organization’s mobile grocery network.
“These partnerships reflect what Hill of Hope stands for — community-led change rooted in dignity and opportunity,” said Wesley Fondal, Chief Marketing Officer and Co-Founder. “We’re honoring our mother’s legacy by turning compassion into measurable action.”
The Hill of Hope Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to continuing Dr. Maria Fondal’s legacy. Its work emphasizes long-term systemic change in health, education, and economic opportunity across underserved communities.
