(CNN)- Kate Winslet is stepping behind — and in front of — the camera for her latest project. The Oscar winner makes her directorial debut with the holiday family drama “Goodbye June,” also co-starring Toni Collette, Andrea Riseborough and Helen Mirren. The film opens in select theaters on December 12th and debuts on Netflix December 24th.
Meanwhile, documentary filmmaker Ken Burns is taking viewers back to the nation’s earliest days in “The American Revolution.” Burns says he and his team worked to be “honest to the actual story,” emphasizing the complexity of the period and how deeply divided the country was during its founding.
“The American Revolution” premieres Sunday, November 16th on PBS stations.
