TELFAIR COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – The Telfair County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a string of stolen road signs and says anyone responsible will face criminal charges.

In a Facebook post, Sheriff Sim Davidson said new signage has been installed across the county by the county commission and road department to replace missing or damaged signs. He said the signs are essential because they help emergency crews find people during emergencies or crashes.

According to the post, several of the newly installed signs have already been stolen.

“I want to make it clear that if you are caught stealing any of these signs or have these signs in your possession, you can be criminally charged with theft and interference with government property,” Davidson wrote.

He asked residents to take the warning seriously and “leave the signs alone.”
