Wilcox, Treutlen County Schools adjust schedules ahead of GHSA football playoffs
Wilcox County will hold virtual classes and Treutlen County will dismiss early as both districts prepare for playoff travel and staff absences.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two Middle Georgia school systems are adjusting schedules ahead of Friday’s GHSA football playoff games due to widespread absences and travel logistics.
Wilcox County Schools said in a Facebook post Tuesday that all classes will shift to virtual learning on Friday, November 14, because of a large number of staff being absent.
“Due to such a large number of staff being absent, Friday (11/14/25) will be a Virtual Learning Day. No one reports to school,” the post said.
Treutlen County Schools announced it will dismiss all schools at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, citing more than 100 high school students being out, staff absences and the long travel time for its football playoff game.
“This adjustment allows us to maintain appropriate supervision, ensure safe transportation, and support our students, families and staff who will be traveling to represent our community,” the district said in a Facebook post.
Wilcox County (7-3) is set to play Bowdon (8-2) in the first round of the GHSA Class A Division II playoffs Friday night, while Treutlen (6-4) will travel to face Mt. Zion (7-2) in Carrollton.
