Hawkinsville woman arrested after Monroe County chase with children in car
Deputies say Jeannie Young fled a traffic stop near High Falls State Park with two children in the vehicle before being arrested on I-75

FORSYTH, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT)- A Hawkinsville woman was arrested late Thursday after Monroe County deputies said she fled a traffic stop with two children in her car and hit a patrol vehicle during the pursuit.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 11:49 p.m. Thursday night to the bridge in front of High Falls State Park after a report of a suspicious person.
When deputies arrived, a caller told them she heard a woman screaming that “the FBI was after her.”
Deputies said they found 32-year-old Jeannie Young of Hawkinsville with two young children. While speaking with Young, deputies said she tried to get into her vehicle with an infant on her lap and appeared to be talking to herself.
When deputies told her to put the infant in a car seat, Young became argumentative and refused to leave. Deputies said she then locked her car doors, shifted into reverse, and hit an empty stroller behind her vehicle.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, despite deputies’ verbal commands to stop, Young accelerated, striking a deputy’s patrol car and nearly colliding head-on with another deputy. She then drove away, leading deputies on a pursuit along Interstate 75.
Deputies arrested Young at mile post 182. The sheriff’s office said Jeannie Young is being held without bond at the Monroe County Jail and faces multiple criminal charges.
No injuries were reported, and a family member is taking care of the two children.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing.
