The push follows Meta’s September unveiling of its $799 Ray-Ban display glasses during the Connect developer event — signaling growing competition in the race to merge fashion and tech.
Meanwhile, Microsoft is sounding the alarm about foreign adversaries using artificial intelligence to boost cyberattacks against U.S. targets. The company says Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea have all used AI to create fake online content and sharpen digital assaults. In July alone, Microsoft identified over 200 instances of such activity — more than double last year’s total and ten times the number reported in 2023.
A new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas highlights another shift: the rapid rise of digital platforms and crypto exchanges in global remittance payments. These technologies are taking a larger market share as regulators weigh how to maintain fair costs and access. According to the Fed, digital-first money transfer operators charge 2 to 5 percent on a $200 transfer — cheaper than brick-and-mortar services (4 to 10 percent) and banks (4 to 18 percent).
And in a look toward the future, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is envisioning a life beyond Earth. The billionaire predicts that by 2045, people will live in space colonies, while robots handle all manual labor. Speaking about AI’s potential, Bezos dismissed fears about automation, saying that throughout history, innovation has consistently improved life rather than diminished it.
