Two men charged after stolen car chase in west Macon

Deputies say the men were caught after a chase that began near Mercer University Drive and ended on Anthony Road.

MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Two men are facing several charges after investigators say they were involved in a chase with a stolen vehicle in west Macon.

According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, investigators spotted a Nissan Sentra that had been reported stolen two days earlier. The vehicle was found at Checkers on Mercer University Drive.

Deputies say when investigators tried to make contact, the driver took off, leading to a pursuit. During the chase, one female passenger ran from the car on Bailey Avenue but was caught after a short foot chase. Deputies stopped the vehicle on Anthony Road, where another passenger tried to run but was quickly caught. The driver and another female passenger were also taken into custody.

Deputies say they found a firearm, a loaded magazine, an air pistol, marijuana and dark clothing and gloves inside the car. The stolen vehicle was recovered.

The suspects were identified as 20-year-old Dominic Ramon McCrary and 32-year-old Nicholas Gregory Jenkins. Two female passengers, ages 18 and 25, were taken to a local hospital for treatment for reported injuries.

Both McCrary and Jenkins were taken to the Bibb County Jail.

McCrary is charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, felony fleeing and eluding a police officer, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, willful obstruction and probation violation. Jenkins faces the same charges.

The sheriff’s office says both men are being held without bond.
