Southeastern Reptile Rescue Brings Education and Adventure to Georgia National Fair
The Georgia National Fair is home to plenty of thrills, and one show is slithering its way into the spotlight.
PERRY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Southeastern Reptile Rescue is giving visitors an up-close look at some of nature’s most misunderstood creatures.
From snakes to alligators, the group’s live demonstrations are designed to educate fairgoers and help them see reptiles in a new light. Founder and CEO Jason Clark says their goal is to replace fear with fascination.
“Snakes are probably the most hated, most feared creature on the earth,” Clark said. “And they’re so beneficial. We’re trying to get people to understand that most of what the general public has been taught about snakes is false. We’re not necessarily trying to get people to love snakes — just letting them know they don’t have to kill every one or be afraid of them.”
Handlers with Southeastern Reptile Rescue say each presentation focuses on teaching audiences how to safely handle and respect reptiles while also emphasizing their importance to the environment.
The Southeastern Reptile Rescue Show runs daily at the Georgia National Fair, giving families plenty of chances to learn more about these scaly creatures.
The Georgia National Fair runs through October 12 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. You can purchase tickets here.
