Peach County Schools Superintendent Dr. Lionel Brown announces retirement

The Peach County Board of Education says schools remain strong and stable as the district begins its search for a new superintendent.

FORT VALLEY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Peach County Schools Superintendent Dr. Lionel Brown is retiring after a long career in education, according to a release from the Peach County Board of Education.

The release said Brown chose to retire following years of leadership and service to the district.

“We are grateful for his years of leadership and service to our district,” the board said in the release. “His commitment to our students, staff, and community has made a lasting impact, and we wish him all the best in this well-deserved next chapter.”

The Board of Education said schools and operations will continue as usual during the transition.

“Please know that our school system remains strong, stable, and focused on the success of every student,” the release continued.”The Board of Education and our leadership team are working together to ensure a smooth transition as we begin the search for our next superintendent. “We look forward to selecting the right leader to continue building on the progress we’ve made together.”
