WARNER ROBINS, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – A Warner Robins man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking and firearm charges, according to the Houston County District Attorney’s Office.
32-year-old Mario Maurice Solomon pleaded guilty September 15 in Houston County Superior Court to trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He entered the plea just before his trial was scheduled to begin.
Solomon was sentenced to 10 years in prison followed by 20 years on probation. Solomon was also ordered to pay a $200,000 fine and was banished from Houston County.
The Warner Robins Police Department Narcotics Intelligence Unit began investigating Solomon’s drug distribution activities in September 2023. Investigators knew Solomon had an outstanding arrest warrant and learned he was staying at the Baymont Inn on Watson Boulevard, authorities said.
With help from the U.S. Marshals Service, officers served the warrant on September 13, 2023. After taking Solomon into custody, investigators saw illegal drugs in plain view inside the motel room and obtained search warrants for both the room and Solomon’s truck.
Searches turned up more than 200 grams of methamphetamine, 40 grams of cocaine, 300 grams of marijuana, a firearm, scales, packaging materials and more than $16,000 in cash.
Senior Assistant District Attorney Mike Smith released the following statement:
“The District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the dedication of the Warner Robins Police Department Narcotics Intelligence Unit, along with the US Marshals Service, for their collaborative efforts in working together to bring down a career criminal that has peddled poison in our community We would like to especially highlight Investigators Keenan Henderson and Joshua Dokes’ endeavors in this successful prosecution.”
District Attorney Eric Edwards released the following statement:
“Mario Solomon is a repeat offender who chose to deal poison in our community even after prior convictions. The amount of methamphetamine, cocaine, and other drugs seized in this case makes clear that his crimes weren’t casual use, but a business built on destroying lives. His arrest and conviction are the result of outstanding police work—both the Warner Robins Police Department’s Narcotics Intelligence Unit and our federal partners with the U.S. Marshals Service. Because of their efforts, a dangerous felon is behind bars and Houston County is safer for it. This outcome sends a clear message: if you traffic narcotics here, you will be caught, prosecuted, and sent to prison.”
