Bloomberg report reveals new details in Epstein–Maxwell relationship

Newly published emails are offering fresh insight into the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell

(NBC)- Newly published emails are offering fresh insight into the relationship between Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, his convicted co-conspirator.

Bloomberg News says it has obtained more than 18,000 purported emails between the two, authenticated through cryptographic and metadata analysis. The correspondence suggests Epstein and Maxwell were closer than either publicly admitted.

In a July interview with the Deputy Attorney General, Maxwell recalled Epstein dismissing concerns about the early investigation into him, telling her not to worry and that everything was “taken care of.” The Bloomberg report further alleges Epstein sought Maxwell’s advice while negotiating his 2008 plea agreement, asking what charge he should accept. Maxwell’s reply: “I suppose lewd and lascivious conduct.”

Among the emails, Bloomberg reports, was a detailed spreadsheet listing more than 2,000 gifts and payments worth up to $18 million. The gifts included lingerie and chocolates, allegedly given to teenage girls who later accused Epstein of abuse.

The trove also reveals Maxwell and Epstein were undergoing fertility treatment together in 2005, years after she said their romantic relationship had ended. One email reportedly contained her instructions to Epstein on making a sperm donation, writing, “You can do the sample at home.”

Bloomberg says the emails only mention former President Donald Trump in three minor instances. Trump has previously said his relationship with Epstein ended in the early 2000s. The White House dismissed parts of the report as “stupid fake news.”

NBC News has not independently verified the emails. Maxwell’s attorney did not respond to a request for comment.
