GSP: 11 children hurt in Peach County school bus crash

The crash happened on GA 96 near Buckeye Road when a bus turned into the path of an SUV, GSP says.

PEACH COUNTY, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) – Eleven children suffered minor injuries Monday morning when a school bus and an SUV collided in Peach County, according to Georgia State Patrol.

In response to a 41NBC inquiry, GSP said the crash happened at 6:16 a.m. on GA 96 near Buckeye Road. The investigation shows a black Dodge Durango was traveling east on GA 96 as a school bus headed north on Buckeye Road stopped at a stop sign. The driver of the bus attempted to turn left and entered the path of the Durango, which struck the bus on the driver’s side.

According to GSP, 14 children were on the bus at the time of the crash. The driver of the Dodge Durango was taken to Atrium Health Navicent in Byron.

The agency said the investigation is ongoing.
