Fort Valley State Hosts Football Meet and Greet Ahead of Season Opener
The 2025 FVSU Squad got a chance to meet the community before heading to Birmingham, AL for their first matchup of the season

FORT VALLEY, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – Fort Valley State University football student-athletes had the chance to meet fans and fellow students this week at Wildcat Stadium during the FVSU “Meet and Greet.”
People from across Peach County came out to get acquainted with the team, ask questions to players and new head coach Marlon Watson, and collect autographs during the Wildcats’ football media day.
Watson, entering his first season leading the program, shared his message to the Fort Valley community.
“Point blank period. Come see about us,” Watson said. “There’s been a lot of talk. There’s been a lot of what the last coaching staff did. We’re not worried about what the last coaching staff or what they’ve done in the past. We know who we are right now. We know our identity. We know where we’re going. And so if you want to experience that, come see about us.”
Watson added that the team has been growing closer after spring practices and fall camp and is motivated despite being picked fifth in preseason rankings.
The Wildcats open the season Saturday at the Week Zero Labor Day Classic at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, against the West Alabama Tigers.
