MACON, Georgia – (41NBC/WMGT) – On Thursday, week two of the high school football season kicked off with our first region matchup of the season. The Academy of Classical Education Gryphons opened thier season on the road at Ed Defore Sports Complex against the 0-1 Central Chargers in a GHSA Region 2-A D-1 showdown.

The Gryphons defeated the Chargers 38-6 last season at Perkins Field. Chargers started strong on offense, but could not finish a drive with points. ACE took advantage of a fourth down stop to score on their first drive of the game with a short run from ACE sophomore Brayden Vincent to put ACE up 7-0 after a successful PAT.

The game was delayed and postponed after one quarter of play.

On Monday, the game picked back up at the start of the second quarter, with a 75-yard touchdown pass from the Gryphons to go up 14-0. ACE would lead 21-0 going into halftime, and eventually end up winning 35-0.

Next up: ACE will host their home opener against Jefferson County, while Central will host Dodge County.
